Psychodynamic Therapy Course- 21/8/2024
1. Introduction
Rojen is dedicated to advancing mental health awareness and professional development within the therapeutic community. As part of our mission, we organized a psychodynamic therapy course to equip professionals with in-depth knowledge and skills in this theoretical orientation. This course aligns with our ongoing commitment to enhance therapeutic practices and address mental health challenges effectively. And because we as Rojen organization always strive to find new ways and ideas to promote mental health awareness and professional development we did do that through opening this course witch is the first course to ever open in Duhok on psychodynamic therapy and also this course was opened in correlation with the ministry of health.
2. Course Overview
● Course Title: Psychodynamic Therapy course
● Duration: 2 days in the week and 5 ours for each day from 02:00pm -07:00pm.
● Date: 21/8/2024 – 12/12/2024
● Location: career development center in university of Duhok.
● Participants: 12 ( 1 therapist , 3 counselors , 6 graduates of psychology , 2 students of psychology ).
3. Objectives
The primary objectives of the course were:
● To provide an understanding of core psychodynamic principles.
● To develop practical skills in applying psychodynamic techniques.
● To explore psychodynamic approaches tailored to specific disorders, such as depression, OCD, PTSD, suicidal ideation and attempts and more.
● To foster self-awareness and professional growth among participants.
4. Course Structure
The course included the following components:
● Covering foundational concepts in psychodynamic therapy.
● Interactive sessions focusing on case conceptualization and intervention strategies.
● Participants conducted role-play sessions under expert supervision. And its note worthy to say that beside the role plays every 2 participant ( a male and a female ) were pared together and conducted psychodynamic therapy on each other after learning it and each pare had there own room so that they can have the privacy that they need,.
5. Outcomes
● Skill Development: Participants reported increased confidence in utilizing psychodynamic techniques.
● Professional Growth: The course fostered critical thinking and reflective practices.
6. Conclusion
The psychodynamic therapy course was a significant step in promoting advanced therapeutic practices. Its success highlights Rojen’s capacity to design and implement impactful educational initiatives. This experience positions us well for future projects aimed at enhancing mental health services.
